February 1996. New York City hosts the very first Pro Tour in Magic history. Wizards of the Coast produces a limited Collector Set of 20,000 copies, originally sold for $125. This box contains all 8 decks played during the inaugural tournament, including those of finalist Michael Loconto and Eric Tam. Sealed, complete box.

Loconto vs. Tam — Signed Finale Box

The box from the grand finale of the first Pro Tour in history, sealed, bearing the original signatures of Michael Loconto and Eric Tam directly on the shrink wrap. Loconto played a blue-white control deck against Tam's red-white-green strategy. A unique piece at this level of provenance.

August 2000, Brussels. The four official World Championships decks, all sealed with their original $9.99 price tags still attached. Jon Finkel wins the title with an explosive mono-blue deck built around Metalworker and Voltaic Key. The other three finalists are Nicolas Labarre, Tom van de Logt, and Janosch Kühn. Complete set, original condition.

In 1994, HarperPrism inserted Magic cards into their fiction novels to promote the world of Dominaria. Mana Crypt is the most valuable of these promos: a zero-cost artifact generating two colorless mana, with a coin-flip mechanic unique at the time. Four copies, all from this original distribution.

Distributed in 1995 through HarperPrism novels, Giant Badger is illustrated by Liz Danforth. One of the two copies presented here bears the illustrator's golden signature. One of the most understated promos in the series, tied to the novel featuring the mage Greensleeves.

Inserted into William R. Forstchen's novel Arena in 1994, Sewers of Estark is one of the rarest HarperPrism promos by print run. Its Melissa Benson illustration and distinctive dotted black border make it instantly recognizable to early-era collectors.

The DCI Legend Membership program rewarded the most engaged players on the organized play circuit with exclusive cards. Incinerate was part of this series distributed between 1994 and 1996, alongside the Yaquinto poker deck. Two copies, same source of distribution.

In the 1990s, Wizards of the Coast produced a series of giant-format cards for promotional purposes, distributed through The Duelist Magazine and InQuest Magazine. These two pieces represent two of the most iconic cards in Magic history: the Shivan Dragon, the mascot of the game's early years, and the Chaos Orb, the only card whose mechanic requires a physical action from the player.
